Now she wants me sued. By the city – and maybe even have criminal charges brought against me.
The “banner” that Medusa is referring to was just a little graphic that was made back in November of ’07 by a group showing me support when my 1st amendment rights were attacked. It was so cute, but had long run its course. I cannot fathom why she brought this up again – but that’s my cyber stalker.
My cyber stalker who is a self-proclaimed legal expert now.
First, the Federal codes.
Existing Federal Regulations:
TITLE 18, PART 1, CHAPTER 33, Sec. 701. – Official badges, identification cards, other insignia
Whoever manufactures, sells, or possesses any badge, identification card, or other insignia, of the design prescribed by the head of any department or agency of the United States for use by any officer or employee thereof, or any colorable imitation thereof, or photographs, prints, or in any other manner makes or executes any engraving, photograph, print, or impression in the likeness of any such badge, identification card, or other insignia, or any colorable imitation thereof, except as authorized under regulations made pursuant to law, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both
And . . .
TITLE 18, PART I, CHAPTER 33, Sec. 712. – Misuse of names, words, emblems, or insignia
Whoever, in the course of collecting or aiding in the collection of private debts or obligations, or being engaged in furnishing private police, investigation, or other private detective services, uses or employs in any communication, correspondence, notice, advertisement, or circular the words ”national”, ”Federal”, or ”United States”, the initials ”U.S.”, or any emblem, insignia, or name, for the purpose of conveying and in a manner reasonably calculated to convey the false impression that such communication is from a department, agency, bureau, or instrumentality of the United States or in any manner represents the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both
Then there’s this guy who collects and displays official Chicago police badges: http://chgopdfan.tripod.com/
He has the following disclaimer displayed clearly on his front page:
“This is NOT the site of the Chicago Police Department. This is a patch collector’s personal site to show you insignia from my hometown, which has the best police department in the country. This site does not solicit money. It’s a free-for-the-viewing site for people to enjoy. This site is not sponsored by, affiliated with, endorsed or approved by the Chicago Police Department.”
She went on and on and on about this – it got boring. So much so she was on her own, making post after ridiculous post (look on the far right of each post, you’ll see they are numbered – this was all her, replying to herself) trying to gain some ground – or something. It was actually quite pathetic. I’m not sure which was more pathetic – the whole stupid idea, or her going on and on about it – all alone.
Obviously the Chicago guy covered himself thoroughly for a reason. He was probably warned that he could get into hot water for giving the appearance that his site WAS the Chicago Police Department website, or was authorized by the CPD. And this is just a guy who displays his collection of police badges. Nothing political. He also makes it clear he doesn’t solicit money.
Now, what if some political activist group slapped the Chicago PD badge on a banner that said “Link to the Chicago Police Department! Join the effort to fight government suppression of free speech! WE WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED!”
If you came across that banner, you would think it was either created by the Chicago police, or authorized by them. THAT’S ILLEGAL!
Not only does it violate trademark laws, I think it violates federal and state code.
You can’t just put the presidential seal or FBI logo on anything you want. The laws are clear about that. I’m sure they apply to local police badges.
Not only that, but CRG solicits money and Jeni has that donate button right under that banner. The Federal code says you ESPECIALLY can’t display likenesses of official badges if you’re soliciting money.
Soliciting money??? Well that’s a good one. Until alter-ego “Batman” enters the conversation. She’s not getting any attention with her dazzling intellect so it’s time to dig into the gutter.
Yes, how many, indeed? I want names, rock-solid proof and pictures, or she can just STHU.
Now that Ms. Piggy got that off her filthy chest, it’s time to take the names of some of my best friends at the time and alienate them as best we can. Remember the pages I mentioned I made and put online about what some of the things Medusa had done to me on her forum? Guess it was bugging her, so instead of contacting me about it, here’s what she did. (The [deleted]’s are all names of friends I had at the time.
She really had a fixation on that Press forum! And so much wrong information it was funny. I don’t know what kind of harm she was hoping to inflict on myself, or the others, but whatever it was, it was so thug-style again I say, pathetic.
