Check this next one out – came out of the blue…
Okay, that is just too freaky to comment on.
Next we have this attempt to join Spirit forum, knowing I’d ban and delete it with the wretched name used – then she can go running to her hate-forum and go say I ban, censor, pick on her, etc. etc.
Now here’s Medusa’s “lesson” on how to post lies online – someone asked if you can just go posting that someone is on drugs like that.
Generally, it’s just assumed everything posted on Internet forums are opinion, but the one big rule is, don’t make serious accusations about specific people that reads like a blantant “statement of fact” unless you know 100% that your accusation is true and you can prove it (Spew-its violate this all the time). Make sure your comments are worded such that it makes it clear it’s just your opinion and doesn’t leave readers wondering if it’s true or not. If your accusation leaves others asking “How do you know that?” or “Do you know that for a fact?” you’d better clarify.
Here are some examples:
What NOT to say (unless it’s true and you have good proof):
“I know So-and-so smokes crack.”
“I know for a fact So-and-so smokes crack.”
“So-and-so is sleeping with her boss.”
“So-and-so is sleeping with her boss, There’s no doubt about it.”
“I have proof So-and-so is sleeping with her boss.”
“Looks like So-and-so is sleeping with the boss.”
“So-and-so is sleeping with her boss, I just know it!”
What’s okay to say:
“In my opinion, So-and-so is smoking something.”
“If I had to guess, I’d say So-and-so is smoking something.”
“So-and-so sure acts like she’s smoking something”
“Sometimes I wonder if So-and-so is on something.”
“Though I don’t know this for a fact, I wonder if So-and-so is on something.”
What’s probably legally okay, but it would still be best to add a disclaimer making it clear you don’t know this for a fact”
“I think So-and-so is smoking something.”
“I have a feeling So-and-so is smoking something.”
“I bet So-and-so is sleeping with the boss.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if So-and-so is sleeping with the boss.”
